How was Gocycle born?

Gocycle’s mission is simple: to create the world’s best urban electric bikes. A task which began in 2002 when former McLaren Cars Limited design engineer Richard Thorpe established his own business, Karbon Kinetics, to embark upon creating his two-wheeled electric dream. Sixteen years on and that dream is a reality with Gocycle renowned the world over for its innovative products, no compromises approach, stylish designs and pioneering spirit.

In 2009, after an extensive development process, the business launched the ground-breaking lightweight Gocycle G1 to international acclaim. The G1 capitalised on Richard’s expertise from a 25-year career working in the motorsports and light electric vehicle industry, becoming the first injection-moulded magnesium alloy bicycle in history. It set the foundations which have enabled Gocycle to continually push boundaries with each of its three new models.

The Gocycle G2 entered the market in 2012 becoming the first production electric bike to have Bluetooth connectivity. It was followed by the range-topping Gocycle G3 in 2016, which debuted an automotive inspired Daytime Running Light (DRL), yet another industry first. The Gocycle GS was introduced in 2017 and the all new fast-folding GX and GXi model in 2019. 2021 sees the arrival of the new G4 and G4i models, the most rider-focused folding e-bikes yet.

Who created Ridey Estonia?

Andre, the Estonian importer of Gocycle, has a racing background, just like Richard Thorpe, the creator of Gocycle. Andre’s career started at the age of 14, and he has been riding a motorcycle for 20 years now, successfully representing Estonia internationally. He has also been involved in auto racing and is currently devoting his time to rallycross. Andre is the Estonian, Finnish and Baltic champion.

How did Gocycle electric bikes make their way to Estonia?

In 2015, Andre saw the Gocycle electric bike for the first time at a motorsport competition in Italy. The bike immediately caught his attention with its design and uniqueness, so Andre took a picture of it. Years later, he remembered the awesome bike he had seen at a race and started researching it, wanting to get one for himself. The racer discovered that it was actually a foldable electric bike, but it was still an early-stage brand that unfortunately did not sell its products outside of Great Britain.

Andre kept an eye on Gocycle's activities and inquired about bringing it to Estonia again in 2021 because he was fascinated by this well-thought-out, practical, and comfortable electric bicycle. Since these are exclusive e-bikes, the production volumes were still too small then, so Gocycle could not expand yet. They had that goal set for next year and asked Andre to get in touch again. Andre's patience paid off, and at the beginning of 2023, Ridey Estonia finally became Gocycle's sole dealer and certified warranty service provider in Estonia.
